Thepresidentpost.id - Bogota, Colombia - Thousands attended the establishment of Amigos de Indonesia / Friends of Indonesia in Colombia, which began with the performance of the national anthem Indonesia Raya.

Amigos de Indonesia is a group of Colombian friends and members of the Indonesian diaspora that actively introduces, promotes, and presents Indonesia. The formation of Amigos de Indonesia took place at the Colegio Nuestra Señora De Nazareth School (30/09).

The Chancellor of Colegio Nuestra Seora De Nazareth School and his staff assisted in the formation of Amigos de Indonesia, and the Indonesian Ambassador, Tatang Razak, expressed his sincere gratitude to them during his speech on this occasion. He added that one of the key goals of the Indonesian Embassy's mission in Bogota is to foster strong people-to-people ties.

To make this happen, the Indonesian Embassy in Bogota has opened Casa de Indonesia, which is an Indonesian Cultural Centre that teaches various Indonesian arts and cultural products such as language, dance, and even offers batik training. Continuing these efforts, and seeing the increasing number of parties interested in collaborating with the Indonesian Embassy in Bogota, it was deemed necessary to create a platform and with this we formed "Amigos de Indonesia".

The Indonesian Embassy in Bogota has trained teachers at Colegio Nuestra Seora De Nazareth in Indonesian dance as part of this collaboration, and the Chancellor of Colegio Nuestra Seora De Nazareth School, Sra. Erica Carillo Gonzalez, thanked the Ambassador and his staff for their friendship and good cooperation thus far.

The Indonesian Embassy in Bogota also supports the extracurricular implementation of badminton, a popular activity in Indonesia, in addition to dance training.

The Amigos de Indonesia successively performed Indonesian arts and culture acts up till the event's climax. Two Colombian girls performed the Peacock dance with ease to astonish thousands of onlookers as they introduced the first performance. The following act had three Colombian kids doing a dance called Mbok Jamu, which shows a person selling herbal medication in Indonesia.

The following four Colombian girls performed the traditional Betawi Yapong dance, representing the culture of Jakarta, the nation's capital. The children successfully performed the West Sumatran Piring Dance as the next performance, which included Javanese culture as well.

Three Colombian ladies returned to gracefully execute the Bajidor Kahot dance, which they have long learnt, as part of Amigos de Indonesia's signature performance in the following session.

The Poco-Poco and Gemufamire Dances were performed by the Indonesian Ambassador Tatang Razak, members of the Indonesian Embassy in Bogota, and hundreds of attendees to round off the festivities that afternoon.

Amigos de Indonesia's establishment was successful as the result of constant efforts. After opening Casa de Indonesia at the Indonesian Embassy in Bogota last year as an Indonesian Cultural Centre, which led to the learning of numerous traditional dances, batik, and Indonesian language by thousands of Colombians, Amigos de Indonesia has now been successfully realised in Colombia.
