Indonesian Embassy in Windhoek Inaugurates Indonesian Honorary Consul to Angola

Wisnu Edi Pratignyo, inaugurated Vicente Sebastião Inácio, Indonesian Honorary Consul to Angola at the Indonesian Embassy in Windhoek (20/11). The inauguration was attended by Advisor to the Minister on Management, Acep Somantri, Ambassador of the Republic of Angola in Namibia, Y.M. Mrs Jovelina A.A. Imperial e. Costa, all staff of the Indonesian Embassy, DWP Board and Members, and the Indonesian community in Windhoek.
In his remarks, Y.M. Wisnu Edi Pratignyo briefly conveyed the achievements of Indonesia-Angola cooperative relations, including some future plans and hopes that the Honorary Consul can help promote Indonesia's interests in Angola. Ambassador Wisnu hopes that the presence of the Honorary Consul will assist the Indonesian Embassy in carrying out diplomatic missions in Angola. "The Indonesian Honorary Consul is expected to support the implementation of the duties of the Indonesian Embassy in Windhoek in Angola and can cooperate with the Indonesian Embassy in strengthening RI-Angola bilateral relations," Ambassador Wisnu said.
Furthermore, in his remarks, Vicente Sebastião Inácio stated that he was honoured by his appointment as the Indonesian Honorary Consul in Angola. It was conveyed that there is a shared-interest between Indonesia-Angola, among others, in the fields of agriculture, oil and gas, and tourism. "I believe that cooperation with the Indonesian Embassy in Windhoek can raise the profile of bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and Angola, including mutual understanding between communities," said Consul Inácio.
On the same occasion, Acep Somantri, Advisor to the Minister on Management, said that the Honorary Consul is an extension of the Indonesian Government to support the Indonesian Embassy in Windhoek in advancing the interests of Indonesia in Angola. Currently there are 109 Honorary Consuls spread across 89 countries under the authority of 51 Indonesian missions. In Africa, there are currently 30 Honorary Consuls in the African region. According to the Mr. Somantri, the appointment of honorary consuls in Africa reflects the commitment of the Indonesian Government to continue to strengthen relations with Africa and can support economic diplomacy and the protection of Indonesian citizens. Mr. Somantri also affirmed the commitment of the Indonesian Government and the Indonesian Embassy in Windhoek to support the Indonesian Consul for Angola in carrying out his duties.
Vicente Sebastião Inácio, is Indonesia's first Honorary Consul to Angola. Vicente will serve as Honorary Consul for the next 5 years, until 2028. The inauguration of the Consul is the realisation of one of the agreements in the Indonesia-Angola Political Consultation held in 2021.
